We've been talking about Robert Frost and his poems in our class. Last year we'd read his poem, The Road Not Taken.
We've been talking about what we already know about Robert Frost and what kind of poems he writes.
Then we read his poem Fire and Ice.
In groups we discussed what emotions and feelings we associate with 'Fire' and 'Ice'. We also talked a little bit about the different worlds we inhabit.
How do these different emotions affect the worlds we inhabit? (They have the power to destroy us, harm us)
The discussions will continue...
We are also asking ourselves the questions - Is this a poem? What makes it a poem?
(Some ideas for these discussions/lessons were taken from the English Teachers Network - ETNI)
